Dear Families, October 1, 2024
We have enjoyed an excellent start to the school year and the beautiful weather!
This Friday, October 4th, we will have school for all grades! We will end the school day with a Homecoming Parade to show our Bulldog Pride! Please join us that evening at 5:00 for the Senior Steak Fry. The week will be filled with activities and athletics showcasing the talented Bulldogs!
We continually onboard staff to expand the afterschool and 5th-day program while keeping it high quality. Friday the 4th they will be in the Community Room as we set up for the Steak Fry.
The Elementary and middle schools are working on school climate and will use the Olweus Bully Prevention Program this year and PAX for positive behavior. We also focus on increasing attendance district-wide. This year, we will have a new statewide student assessment, and students will participate throughout the year rather than once in the spring as it was done in the past for grades 3-8.
The high school has done fantastic work expanding student opportunities to participate in pre-apprenticeship programs, dual credit courses, early college, and much more! Visit with Mr. Schnittgen or Mrs. Heavrin to learn more and watch for a flyer and family night with more information. This exploration into the careers and information to help student begin thinking about their future will also be taking place in the middle school in an expanded way!
Thank you for supporting our updated safety plans during drop-off and pick-up!
We are seeking staff to fill vacancies in the kitchen, activity bus drivers, adult instructors for the afterschool and 5th-day program, and we need substitutes! The school board has increased the rates for substitutes, and we would appreciate your help in supporting learning in our district on a flexible schedule.
It is hard to believe that the end of October and quarter one are upon us. If you have questions or would like to visit, please reach out to us at any time. Visit our website for information coming out regularly on school events, updates, and the adult education courses offered.
Sincerely,
Susie Hedalen, Superintendent of Townsend School District
