K-8 families-please read the following letter. Have a great evening.

On behalf of BHS's Student Council, we are offering shoveling services in the month of January for free! Members of the Student Council will personally come to your home and shovel your driveway and/or sidewalks so that you don’t have to! We take pride in helping our community and thought this would be a great opportunity to give to all who support our school. Due to student availability and the unpredictability of the weather, students will only be available on Saturdays and Sundays of this month. If you are interested or have someone in mind that would need this task done for them, contact Allie Lampman via her email, alampman@townsend.k12.mt.us.

Safety for all is most important and our road conditions and temperatures are severe. We will continue to monitor the situation for tomorrow.
Thank you, Townsend School District

Dear Families, 12/21/22 5:30 am
Our regions extreme weather conditions hit sooner than expected. As a safety precaution, the Townsend School District and Bulldog Bus Lines have decided we will not run the bus routes on Wednesday the 21st or Thursday the 22nd. The temperatures could cause issues with the operation of the buses and lead to potentially dangerous situations. Road conditions are severe as well; therefore, buses will not run. We will notify you through the website, FB, and Infinite Campus if there are any further updates such as potential school closure. If any families need resources or support over the holiday break, please reach out to Mrs. Hedalen.
Stay safe, and stay tuned for information,
Susie Hedalen

In December, we will have 19 students from Okinawa, Japan visiting our school and our town as part of the Kakehashi Project. We are in need of volunteers to host some kids for a couple of hours on Saturday, December 17th for their home visit. The purpose of the home visit is to show the students what daily life is like in Townsend, MT. This will give them a good sense of how American homes are different and/or similar to Japanese homes. Here are some of the details:
December 17th - Home visit
· The home visit will take place between 10am and 4pm.
· Families will provide lunch, conversation, maybe a little walk around. You could plan an activity at your home if you would like.
· We need up to 9 families to host students.
· Background checks conducted by a 3rd party are mandatory.
Because this is a program that works with minors (just like schools), this is required by multiple parties: US Department of Foreign Affairs, Japan International Cultural Exchange, Laurasian Institute. Interested parties will provide their email address, which will be send to the Laurasian Institute. They will send you information for filling out the background check form. It's an FBI connected background check and they do not see any of your information - they just get the go ahead from the 3rd party.
· We do prefer homes that have kids who will be at home that day. It would be awkward for the Japanese students to just be hanging out with adults all day.
· Please let me know if you are interested ASAP. We need to get the ball rolling on this so they can finalize their plans, and so we have the background checks done.
Send any inquiries to Mrs. Lampman at alampman@townsend.k12.mt.us

Come join the fun!! 🎭
