A followup to the call that was sent to parents/guardians last night:
Townsend Schools has been impacted by a confirmed positive Covid-19 test in the high school. While this is not a reason to panic, it is a reason to be diligent in monitoring for changing health conditions with your students. The district has had practices in place to lower the risk, limit any potential contact, and allow for effective contact tracing. As we work with our County Health Department and health professionals, some parents may be contacted regarding potential close contact and additional health monitoring recommendations. After reviewing potential classes and students/staff affected, the list is very minimal. Townsend Schools is committed to promoting the health and safety of students, staff, and community. If you are contacted by the County Health Department regarding potential close contact, we urge you to follow the recommendations provided. We also urge all students, staff, and community members to continue the safety protocols that are already in place. If any other cases arise, we will continue to keep you informed.
Thank you,
Superintendent Wilkerson
